Tooth gems look good on everyone, but they don’t work on every tooth surface.
One of the most common questions I get is:
“Can I get a tooth gem if I have veneers, bonding, or crowns?”
The short answer is:
Tooth gems should not be applied to veneers or fake teeth.
Let’s break down why 👇
🧪 The Science (Simple + Real)
Tooth gems are applied using dental-grade adhesive, the same type used for braces.
This adhesive bonds by connecting to the natural pores in your tooth enamel.
🔹 Natural teeth = have tiny pores → the adhesive grips and holds
🔹 Veneers, crowns, bonding = smooth, polished surfaces → no pores → the adhesive has nothing to grip onto
So even if a gem does stick for a day or two, it will fall off, because the surface wasn’t designed for bonding.
This is why proper tooth gem applications are always done on natural enamel.
🚫 Why We Don’t Place Gems on Veneers / Bonding
Placing gems on fake teeth can cause:
-Scratches on the veneer/composite surface
-Staining or glue marks around the gem
-Uneven wear on the bonding layer
-Risk of lifting or weakening the veneer (and veneers are £££ to replace 😫)
So any tech that says “yes babe I can still do it” is either:

❌ Using the wrong materials
❌ Or just doesn’t care about long-term smile health
